She put the new glow mask that promised closed pores, tighter skin and glow on the face.

The thick gel covered her entire face keeping only the nostrils free. Although the mask was cool and relaxed her initially, it started to tighten and sealed her eyes and lips firmly. She felt suffocated. The mask slowly solidified having no eyes and lips on being removed.

The mask so much resembled the women of her community whose eyes had been shut tightly to have no vision and lips sealed to have no voice.

Who cared about the glow anyway?
