Mom almost shrieked in fright when she saw her teen aged daughter. The teenager showed off her new bald look confidently, citing it as a mark of empowerment.

“What an irony!” , said the old grandaunt who was sitting quietly in a corner , adjusting the white saree over her head.

Tonsured every fifteen days for the past 70 years and banned from wearing any piece of ornament or colour except white, grandaunt was a widow, who lost her husband even before she attained puberty.

Her own bald look didn’t give her any empowerment though.
